She met the love of her life, Doug Griffiths, when she was 16 years old. Five years later, they were married in Lethbridge on November 27, 1954 and celebrated 67 years of marriage in 2021.
Doug joined the Canadian Armed forces in April 1956, offering the opportunity to live in a number of cities across Canada and in Werl, Germany with their children. While living in Germany, the family travelled extensively throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. Doug and Georgina continued their love of travel, cruising to the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Panama Canal and Alaska.
Georgina was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to entertain and was renowned for her apple pie, biscuits and ribs. She was a marvelous seamstress, knitter, gardener, artist and potter and gifted her family and friends with wonderful hand-made items.
Georgina held a number of positions in banking, retail and service industries and was especially proud of the time spent volunteering with the Chilliwack Alcohol and Drug Centre.
Her family will miss her beautiful smile, loving hugs, laugh and sense of humor.
Georgina is survived by her husband Doug; daughters Sherry and Carol (Don); son Rob (Lani); grandchildren Brittany; Kier; Taylor; Annie; Kaitlyn and Michael; great-granddaughter Ruby and sister Barbara of Lethbridge. Predeceased by her sisters Eleanor and Ivy.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Georgina's name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
