Gordon Nordby, resident of Hope, BC, passed away at the Hope Regional Hospital on Oct. 13, 2016 with his loved ones holding his hands, talking and singing, loving him until he made his departure. Gordie had suffered from the dreaded dementia for some time and his health began to fail. He took a fall and fractured his hip, so that seemed to be enough for Gordie. He leaves daughter Cheryl and husband Allan Leonard and two granddaughters Amanda and Sarah Leonard, daughter Paula Petersen and grandsons Dylan and Dayton Petersen, great grandson Alex and 4 step-children Brian, Michael, Melanie and Janine. Gordon was predeceased by his siblings Norm, Kay, Joyce, Gerry. Lyle, Dennis and Faye and is survived by Larry and Marg.
Gordie was a proud Vancouver Fire Fighter for 35 years. He would say it was the best job he ever had. Gordie was an amazing man and will be forever missed.
Our deep sincere gratitude goes to Dr. Josh Greggain and Dr. Christie and every one of the angels that cared for our Gordie, hospital staff included.
“I would say to my husband, thanks for asking me for that dance that lasted 28 years. Your loving wife, Mervina.”
We will gather family, friends and neighbours for a Celebration of Gordie’s Life at the Eagles Hall, 386 Fort Street, Hope, BC on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
