Helen Elaine Wall, Age 90, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at the Bradley Center. Her life was defined by compassion, resilience, and devotion to family, leaving a lasting legacy of love and service to others.
Born on May 22, 1935 in Plum Coulee, Manitoba, Helen was raised in Carman by her parents, Henry and Helena. From an early age, she demonstrated a strong work ethic and a commitment to caring for others. At 18, she began her nursing career, and it was during this time that she met Jake, whom she married in 1956. Their life together was filled with love and dedication, even as they faced challenges.
Helen and Jake had four children: Carey, Robert, Glenda and Kimberley. When Jake was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Helen took on the role of primary caregiver, balancing family life with her nursing career. After the birth of Robert in 1963, the family moved to Chilliwack to better support Jake's health. There, Helen worked as a nurse at Chilliwack General Hospital, where she formed deep connections with both her patients and colleagues.
Helen's capacity for love expanded when she and Jake adopted two more children-- Glenda, a two-year-old, and Kimberly, who was born with severe physical and cognitive disabilities. Kimberly was deeply cherished, and Helen's nurturing spirit embraced not only her immediate family but also numerous foster and babysitting children over the years.
Following Jake's death in 2002, Helen turned her energy toward charitable work. She became involved with MCC. Later, she started an initiative to collect and ship donations to Ukraine. Her home became a hub for sorting and organizing donations, and several times a year, containers were sent overseas to aid those in need.
Helen eventually moved to Birchwood Assisted Living, where her health began to decline. In November 2025, after breaking her hip, she could no longer live independently and spent her final weeks surrounded by family.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Jake, daughter Kimberly, and 5 siblings. She is survived by her children, Glenda (Warren), Robert (Theresa), and Carey (Debra); grandchildren Tyler (Meghan), Danielle, Katie, and Jacob (Lizzy); great-granddaughter Eden; and her sister Mary.
Helen's legacy of kindness, dedication, and selflessness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
