Helen Mary Light

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Mary Light (née Barritt) announce her passing on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Bradley Center in Chilliwack, where she resided and was cared for over the past 15 years.

Helen was predeceased by her parents, James and Lois Barritt, and by her beloved partner, Gary Anderson.

Helen was born in Chilliwack, British Columbia, where she grew up on her family's farm and attended school. She later married Tom Light, and together they built their family and life in BC. After moving to Williams Lake, Helen and Tom raised their two children and became active members of the community, co-owning music stores and other businesses. The family later relocated to Delta, where Helen and Tom eventually went their separate ways.

Throughout her life, Helen was known for her strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. She held various positions before beginning a career with the federal government in Vancouver, where she worked her way up to a Program Officer in Human Resources until her retirement in 2005.

During this time, Helen met her partner, Gary Anderson, with whom she shared many happy years. Together they enjoyed travelling, golfing and spending winters at their property in Palm Springs, creating many cherished memories.

Helen will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children, Greg (Lorraine) and Deana; her grandchildren, Jarad, Chelsea (Nathan), Selena, Jess, and Chelan; her sister, Joan Alendal; and numerous other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the 1st Fairfield Scout Hall, 47130 Hope River Road, Chilliwack, BC.
