Hiro was born in Amami Oshima, Kagoshima-ken, Japan, and moved to Canada in 1974. An entrepreneur and skilled chef, he took ownership of Ichibankan Restaurant in Vancouver in 1993; and subsequently opened two other branches. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Lucy, moved to Chilliwack where Hiro enjoyed farm life and practising “Katori Shinto-ryu”. A talented craftsman, Hiro built his own dojo, and his handiwork can be seen throughout the couple’s beautiful home.
Hiro is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lucy (nee Kadonaga). He will greatly be missed by his loving family and many, many friends.
