Irene Mabel Cooper

COOPER, Irene Mabel ( Nee Burke ) passed away peacefully at Chilliwack General Hospital at 12:02 AM on September 14th, 2013, Irene in her 97th year, left this world to join her husband Ray and to be eternally together. Irene, also known more affectionately as " GRAM" leaves to mourn her only child Doreen (Darrell ) Price, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Cheryl ( Larisa ) Bourel, Brenda (Clayton, Brenton and Meagan ) Dean, Mike ( Brandon) Price. Gram was predeceased by her husband Ray in 1979. She also leaves to mourn her sister Lillian and many nieces and nephews in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Gram was born in Carievale, Sask in 1917 and lived for a number of years in Surrey, BC where she raised Doreen while her husband was overseas fighting in world war II. Dad only saw Doreen once shortly after she was born and the next time, she was 4 years old. Due to illness the family moved from BC to Winnipeg, where they lived until 1979 when Ray passed away. Gram then moved to live with her daughter and her family first in Central Saanich BC and then for the last 30 yrs she has resided in Agassiz BC.

For the past several years she has been living at Logan Monor, an assisted-living home in Agassiz.

A special thank you to the nursing staff at Chilliwack General Hospital in particular Nurses Jane, Ann , Pam who showed exceptional compassion and caring during Grams last couple of days. All the nursing staff were most helpful and caring but these three went the extra step for which the family is truly greatful.

A very special thanks to Dr Lachlan MacIntosh who has been Grams doctor since she came to Agassiz: truly a remarkable doctor! Thanks for caring for Gram all these years.

There will be a visitation only at Henderson's Funeral Home in Chilliwack BC for family and close friends on Thursday September 19 at 5:00pm.

Burial and service will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home in Winnipeg, on September 24, 2013 at 2:00pm.
