Jerimiah William BROWN

8 juin 19285 octobre 2021

Jerimiah William Brown (Jerry) passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in Chilliwack, BC at 93 years. He was born June 8, 1928 in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Jerry is survived by his son Dan (Sue), and daughter Deleine Perrie. He leaves behind 6 wonderful grandchildren, Carissa, Tyler, Shantelle, Justin, Adam and Curtis as well as 8 Great Grandchildren and his twin sister Joan Brown. Jerry was predeceased by the love of his life his wife Jean, his infant daughter Geraldine, his parents and his sister Nancy.

Jerry grew up in Lethbridge and joined the Air Force where he received his training as a mechanic. He met Jean in Cranbrook and married a short time later. They packed up their belongings and headed West, settling in Chilliwack. Chilliwack would become his home for the next 67 years, 66 of them in the same home until his death.

After his time in the Air Force, Jerry was a highly-respected mechanic in the Chilliwack area until his retirement. Many repeat customers received a top-notch tune-up from him.

Jerry was a founding member of the Chilliwack Kiwanis Club since 1961, and continued as a member with perfect attendance until his death. He spent many hours volunteering his time with the Kiwanis Housing and enjoyed the many friendships he formed along the way. He was also a member of the United Empire Loyalists and received his UEL certificate in 1997.

Jerry took pride in his family, his yard and was proud to live in the same home for 66 years. He enjoyed his many visits with his good friends and his daily visits with his neighbour.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date when family can attend.

I grew up across the street from Mr. Brown and remember him fondly; he was a kind and gentle man. I used to look after their dog(s) when Mr. and Mrs. Brown went out of town. I also never walked by that long metal gate without stopping to give a pet to Charlie (I may have the name wrong, it has been many years!). I don't live in Chilliwack any longer, but that house will always be synonymous with the Browns. My condolences to Deleine and Dan.

Danny and Deleine. So very sorry for your loss. I had many great times being around your dad while working at Comet Garage. Always enjoyed chatting with him and having a few laughs. I was visiting my mom and dad a few months ago, went for a walk and saw your dad sitting out on the back porch. Had a very nice chat with him. Again, so sorry for your loss. Take care of one another. Jerry and I go back a long time, 77 years. When my Dad was in business he had his truck repaired at Jerry's service garage at the corner of Victor and Yale road. I used to go there with him and Jerry always had time to talk to me.
Over the years since , our paths crossed at various community service events. Jerry always had service to community at the top of his list.
Joan and I will miss seeing and saying hello to him and his daughter as they had Sunday lunch at Southgate Restaurant .

Fond Memories will always remain.
