Sincere condolences from Alan and Phyllis Randall. We remember Katerina for her kindness and hospitality to us. We have a fond memory of visiting her log home at 100 Mile House. It was the last time we were able to see her. Hoping and praying her sons are doing well.

I miss you so much mom. They say it gets easier with time but I don't see it. Almost 4 months have passed since you were taken from us and yet there is not a day that I don't think of you or shed a tear. You were the best mom ever and the world has lost a beautiful human being. You were and are loved by everyone that had the honor of knowing you. You touched so many lives and the world is a better place for you having been in it. Rest in peace mama.

Our family (Cacic) were deeply saddened to hear of our beloved Teta Kaja’s passing.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to visit her as of late and regret doing so.  She will be greatly missed by all of us.  I have a lot of fond memories of her growing up at family gatherings, sleepovers, long car rides and simply joking around (she was quite the joker as was my mom too....lol).  Ron & I could count on her to safely drive us back home from our “clubbing night outings”.  She was also a very supportive and comforting sister to my mom when she was battling Stage 4 Stomach Cancer -,our family will forever be grateful of her love and kindness.  I am so proud that I had the privilege of you being my Aunt in this journey of life.  I believe our paths will cross again.  We love you forever Teta Kaja.  Rest In Peace. ❤️🙏

I have many memories of Teta Kaja.  As a teenager,  I remember visiting her house in Aldegrove many times.  Easter egg hunts, barbecues  and sleepovers.  I remember her very funny sence of humor and kindness.

Dear Mom,

It's been a week since you were taken from us. I knew that losing you someday would be hard but I had no idea. I miss our daily phone calls and weekly visits. I wish I could have been there to comfort you at the hospital but I was not allowed to. I think of you always mom. I would give everything I own and then some for another moment with you. I miss joking around with you as we always did and I'll never forget the last time that I saw you when I brought you your sandals. I told you to not wear your sandals with socks so you don't end up looking like a German tourist. You laughed so hard and we told each other that we love one another. That was the last time that I saw your beautiful face and it is permanently etched in my mind. My life will never be the same without you. You left a void that nobody else could ever fill. I miss you my beautiful angel.
 

We had the pleasure and honour to meet Baka 19 years ago. We placed an advertisement for someone special to care for our then  four month old son. I remember opening my front door where this beautiful woman stood. She said hello to me and quickly took our son from my arms, at this moment I knew that we had found the perfect person to help us raise Joshua. Baka was a grandmother to Joshua and loved and cared for both Joshua and our yellow lab Amber. Baka would  refer to Joshua as her “tootie” and our yellow lab as “Amber Smamber”. Baka loved to “dumpster dive”, this meant that her and “tootie” would be shopping at second hand stores which she loved to do. Baka went far and beyond as our caregiver, she was family to us. Baka was a big influence on who our son is today. We are so grateful to have had her in our life and will miss her deeply.

My dearest sister Kathy,

My heart is broken by losing you.  Talking with you almost every day about our happy childhood…5 girls, only a year apart in age…we were poor but we had the best parents and it was a happy, simple life.  During our many conversations, we would often reminisce and would both agree that despite being so poor, we would gladly go back to those days because of our love for each other and our wonderful, loving parents.  

I have many happy and funny memories of us.  I remember when you were a small baby lying in a rocking cradle.  The 4 sisters were rocking your cradle too hard and the cradle tipped over and you started to cry.  We didn’t want our mother to hear you cry so we covered your cries by singing loudly.  These memories are forever cherished in my heart.  

It gives me peace knowing you are joining our loving parents and our dear sisters Lucija and Maria in heaven.  I will miss you my little sister.  Until we meet again….

Katarina (Kathy)Petanic was born on February 15, 1949, in Zagreb, Croatia. In 1973, Katarina, along with husband Kruno along with her son Robert moved to Canada. Shortly after their arrival in Canada, Katarina gave birth to her second son, Ronald. Family was always her primary focus and her sons were her life.
Katarina worked all her life, and always at jobs that involved caring for others, whether it was the disabled, seniors or children. Prior to retirement, Katarina did volunteer work. She was caring and selfless, and always helped others. Katarina was a modest and humble woman who always put other people first. God has called one of his angels home.
Katarina is survived by her sons, Robert and Ronald,granddaughter Ivy, sisters, Ankica and Mira, along with many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
Waiting for her arrival in heaven are her parents Ivan and Manda Pavicic, along with sisters Maria and Lucija. 
Katarina will be sorely missed by everyone that knew and loved her.

Words cannot express the sadness we feel in our hearts. Mom, your smile was so loving and I will always carry that beautiful image. Life will never be the same.I will never forget you and this pain will never go away. We will all be united again one day as a family. I miss you and love you mom.

With a heavy heart I am writing this message to you. I will miss our reminiscing of our wonderful and happy childhood, funny times and sad times. But nothing will replace my phone conversations with you of these past years. I have included a picture of us when we were kids. You are sitting in Mom's lap.

I remember enjoying going to see my beautiful Aunt and cousins so much, at the age of around 12, I rode my bike from West Vancouver, to Aldergrove, in the snow, without my parents knowing.
