AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Lawrence Brian Havelock

21 novembre 194423 juillet 2020

Lawrence “Brian” Havelock passed away peacefully at the Heritage Village Nursing Home in Chilliwack, BC. July 23, 2020.

Brian was born November 21, 1944 to Ronald and Aileen Havelock in Winnipeg, MB. He was predeceased by 2 infant brothers and more recently by his sister Helena Havelock. He is survived by his wife Jeanette, son Jon Havelock (Candace) and daughter Jill Havelock (Curtis Chody). Six grandchildren who were so loved by their Grandpa will miss him. He leaves his brother Frank in Winnipeg. Brian will be remembered by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley and Larry Brown; his niece Erin Palazzi and his nephew Greg Brown.

Brian had to quit school early when his Dad passed away but was able to educate himself and become well employed throughout his life. He worked on the DEW Line, Royal Bank, Manitoba Public Insurance and Manitoba Government Employees Union. In his younger years he was an avid runner who participated in the Manitoba Marathon. As his running days waned he continued to attend a gym several times a week, cycled and walked. Until December 2019 he was still walking 5K a day. He loved Chinese food, A&W burgers and McDonald’s iced tea!

Brian and Jeanette moved to Chilliwack 6 years ago to enjoy the milder climate in their retirement.

Cremation has taken place and as Brian wished, no services will be held. Thank you to the Chilliwack General Hospital and the Heritage Village Nursing Home for their care and comfort during Brian’s last weeks.

Brian and I worked together at MGEU for many years. I was the only one who could read his handwriting so we were a team! I loved his quirky sense of humour. He never backed down from a fight. We were more than co workers .. we were good friends. In years after he left MGEU he would stop by and we always had a few laughs.
