

She weighed 3 lbs, 5 oz at birth, surviving being born a Preemie baby!
She grew up in St. James, not too far from one of the 'group of seven', Tom Thompson and
Lord Strathcona's Estate. Linda went to Bannatynne Elementary, it was a very large red brick building with white pillars!
She enjoyed the area where she lived between the Assiniboine River and Sturgeon Creek. There was always a place to swim, skate & toboggan. There was a windmill at the creek with a potbellied stove to where the kids could all go warm there hands and dry there socks. Linda took ballet at the 'Allied Arts of Winnipeg'. Linda went on to College and took coarses in 'Fashion/Design & Illistration' at the University of Manitoba!
In 1962, Linda and John were married in the Sturgeon Creek United Church. The last Wedding there, before it was torn down and a new one was built in it's place. John and Linda flew to Vancouver for there honeymoon, to which they fell in love with the beautiful Coast and decided to make it their home. December 7,1962 their first son Kevin, was born. On July 25, 1966, their second son Shawn, was born. Shortly after the birth of their 3rd child, daughter Heather, born November 7, 1970 they seperated and moved. Linda settled into a cute little two story home in Port Moody, where she loved gardening, painting in oil on canvas, sketching with charcoal and Pottery at 'Place de Arts', Coquitlam. She also liked disco dancing with her girlfriends. She learned how to 'Do the hustle' in her kitchen, with her kids cheering her on! Many BBQ's and birthdays were celebrated in the huge back yard and the view of the Burrard Inlet was amazing! The kids had swimming lessons and sports days at Rocky Point Park, just a few blocks down the street. In 1980, Shawn moved in with his Dad and Kevin also moved to North Vancouver with wife Lil, and new son Brandon. Linda and her daughter Heather moved into a Heritage home in Chilliwack on the corner of Wellington and Edward St. and after a year moved across town to Ashwell Rd., where it was close to middle school. She found much enjoyment when she Volunteered at the Actors Guild in Chilliwack as a 'Costumer'.
Linda went back to College and Graduated! She applied for nurse position at Chilliwack General Hospital, and started working Jan 10, 1982. She made great friendships with Mary G., Kelly W., Karen G., and Solvig. Among some of her other really good friends were Betty M., and Celina K. She knew how to dance, laugh and enjoy the prime of her life!
Linda moved to a Condo on Coote St. where she lived next door to her good friend Kelly. Her little back yard had a cute pond and waterfall with wooden mallards and loons. Ferns and pink bagonias grew around the waterfall, a little 'Oasis' she could retreat to after a long day at work. Her, her children and Grandchildren spent many hours in her little yard, enjoying the pretty roses, purple clematis and a nectorine tree! Linda adored her Grandkids and would delight in having them use the pool. A swim with Nana in the pool was always such a good time!
In 1998, Linda and her good buddies Betty and a few others went on a road trip to Alaska, She panned for gold, seen Grizzly bears and took pictures of Glaciers. You could say she liked a good Adventure!!! In 2005, with a friend, Linda drove across Canada, enjoying beaches in Summerside P.E.I and Petit Rochet N.B. Her dream was to one day return there and sit on the beach, feel the salty air in her hair, taste the Lobster and mussels, play a flute and wear a different hat everyday!
Linda loved her 3 children, Kevin, Shawn and Heather. She Loved her Grandchildren Brandon, Krystal, Jeremy and Emily! She also loved her sweet GreatGrandchildren Diora and Kassius. It was a Beautiful gift to have met Kassius and enjoy a visit at Nanas' place just 17 days before she passed away. Linda battled Mental Illness in the last few years of her life. She is free from the fear and unrest of the Dimentia. Reunited with her son Shawn and Grandson Brandon, May you Rest sweetly Dear Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunty, Nana, Cousin, and Long time Friend!!!! xoxoxoxoxox

HUGHES, Linda Margaret
Linda Margaret Hughes passed away on April 5, 2014 in Chilliwack B.C. at the age of 73 years.
She was born June 7, 1940 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Linda is survived by her mother, Linda Sanders, her sister, Judy (Dave) Petrynchen, her son, Kevin (Lil) Hughes and daughter, Heather (Randy) Schmidt. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Krystal (Rich)Hughes, Jeremy and Emily Schmidt and her great grandchildren, Diora and Kassius Gablehouse.
Linda is predeceased by her grandmother, Mary Antoine, her father, Albert Sanders, her son, Shawn Hughes, and grandson, Brandon Hughes.
Linda returned to College in 1982 to become a Nurse. She worked for over 25 years at Chilliwack General Hospital as an LPN. Retiring in the Chilliwack area, she enjoyed gardening, painting, fashion & anything crafty & creative. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She loved her family dearly and was also loved greatly by her family! She will be remembered for her talents, success, humor, and never ending LOVE!
