Margaret was born to Eyjolfur and Margaret Isfeld as the eldest child in a family of seven children.
She grew up in the Gimli Winnipeg Beach area of Manitoba, amongst her Icelandic relatives, in a fishing community.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Cheryl, Tracey (Hofmann) and Deborah May (Shantz) – Wallaceburg, ON as well as many extended family members.
She was a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, great-aunt as well as friend to many.
Margaret is pre-deceased by her husband Harold Leonard (Snoopy) Hillis, her eldest daughter Valerie Ann (Benoit), her parents, her brother Douglas Isfeld and other extended family members that await her in external rest.
The Chilliwack area has been Margaret’s home for about 50 years. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary for both the Royal Canadian Legion and the Army Navy Air Force (Anavets) for many years.
Margaret’s ability to face life’s adversities with courage is her legacy. She maintained a healthy sense of humor along with a no-nonsense sensibility. Her independence was not to be questioned along with her resilience.
She will be dearly missed but we rejoice in knowing that she is in the embrace of our eternal loving savior Jesus Christ and those angels she’s been longing to see are now attending her.
“To those God loves, he gives his eternal rest”.
A celebration of life and Interment of ashes will be held in the springtime in her hometown of Gimli Manitoba with her family.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Margaret’s name.
