Marv was born in Fairfield, Nebraska, and raised in the Bay Area of California. After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy, where he served two terms. During his first term, while on R&R in Honolulu, Hawaii, he met his future wife, Karen. During those two weeks, the two fell in love—marking the beginning of a life built around family.
In 1980, Marv and his family made the move to Canada, eventually settling in Chilliwack, where he built a life surrounded by family, friends, and his ever-growing collection of cars. A true car enthusiast, Marv had a lifelong passion for Corvettes and classic cars—his garages were always full of them, just the way he liked it. One of his only unfulfilled wishes was to be buried in his Corvette, a request his family wishes they could have granted.
In his retirement years, Marv surprised many by picking up hobbies like stained glass and embroidery. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and sharing laughter and stories over coffee with the McDonald’s coffee group. If you ever heard laughter coming from the corner table, chances are Marv was giving someone a hard time jokingly.
Marv was predeceased by his parents and his deeply loved daughter, Tamra Jean. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Karen; his sons Marv Jr. (Sheena) and Eric (Carrie); his cherished grandchildren Myles, Ainsley, Ava-May, Ophelia, Branson, and Harden; and his siblings Bill (Palma) and Pat (Ed). He is also survived by Karen’s extended family and many much-loved nieces and nephews on her side, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Please join us in celebrating Marv’s life with one last garage party—just the way he would have wanted it: casual and surrounded by friends and family. The celebration will take place at his warehouse:
