It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Wilson (nee Silverthorne) on September 5th, 2014. She is predeceased by husband George Alexander Wilson, son George Allan (Al) Wilson, parents William and Clara Silverthorne and siblings Orville, Wilbert and Lorne Silverthorne and Thelma Stevenson. She is survived by grandchildren Tanya Schultz and Jeffrey Wilson, grandson-in -law Jeremy Schultz and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Norma was an interesting and insightful woman who was a great listener and conversationalist. She cared deeply about others and always provided support to those in need. She was born in 1928 in Shelbrooke, Saskatchewan and moved to Aldergrove, B.C. with her parents in 1932. In 1950 she married George Wilson and her son Al Wilson was born in 1952.
She was a longtime employee of Fraser Valley Broadcasters, a job she always found enjoyable and fulfilling and spoke highly of well after her retirement. She was a very active member of the Probus Club, not only playing bridge with the club weekly but participating in the many events and group outings organized such as trips, dinners and discussion forums. Norma loved to travel. Her interest in the world around her brought her across Noth America and Europe.
Norma will be sadly missed by many. She will be remembered for her generous, positive nature and empathy for those around her. As per her request, no formal service will be held but donations to the B.C Children's Hospital Foundation, www.bcchf.ca can be made in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements under the direction of John Clark at Henderson's Funeral Homes & Crematorium Ltd., Chilliwack, British Columbia.
