

Raymond was born on December 16th 1935 to Agnes Sierpina(Furgala) and John Sierpina in Vancouver, BC. He is predeceased by his mother and father, his sister, Christina(Jennie) Nieschmidt, and his wife, Joy Sierpina. He is survived by his partner, Shirley Pick.
Raymond spent his younger years as a coxswain on the gold-medal winning UBC eights crew, representing Canada at the 1954 Commonwealth Games. He was inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1958, British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame in 1966, and UBC Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. He had a strong passion for sailing and would frequently reminisce of his time spent on the water.
When he wasn’t sailing, he spent time as an accountant, as well as a property manager and developer. In later years, he spent his winters in Palm Desert, California, enjoying playing golf in the sunshine.
He will forever be missed and loved.
As per Ray’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s hospital. His final resting place will be at Boal Chapel & Memorial Gardens in North Vancouver.
