“It wasn’t abrupt....it was just really gentle when he left..” (Gloria).
Ronald (Sam) was born on April 14th, 1946 in Agassiz. His younger life was spent doing things that young boys do: climbing trees and eating raw onions, throwing rocks into the bushes then yelling “bear!!” to his Sisters. He left home in his mid-teens to pursue his fortune as a logger, following in his Father and older Brothers’ footsteps. The logging persisted throughout his life and took him all over: to the States, float camps on the BC coast, and the interior of BC. He liked to hunt deer, elk and moose; even shot his own truck once. He was invited on hunting trips by all his friends and family, even after he burned down the camp tent on one trip. He had issues with the cleaning of game, and preferred to let others do it. He enjoyed fishing with his friends and Family, from gill netting and dip netting at fish camp in the Canyon to beach seining at Peters Reserve and Scowlitz. When he had extra money he liked to bet on the horses and the slots in casinos. Sam spent thirty plus years with Roberta, and raised three children to adulthood. After Roberta passed, Sam spent the last seventeen years with Cathy. He was a gentleman, and pitched in whenever he could, from fixing trucks to digging graves. He would refuse no requests for help.
He will be lovingly remembered by his Girlfriend Cathy Isbister, Children Betty (Peter), Samantha (Darryl), and Benjamin. He was equally loved by his Stepchildren Danielle and Amber Huber. He left a legacy behind for his Grandchildren Kimberly, Hailey (Ben), Cody (Alex) Kipp, Daniel, Jessica (Leo), and Julie (Tavis). His heart was also open to his Step-Grandchildren Zachary, Adrianna and Bella. He was especially fond of his Great Grandchildren Alex, Austin, and Elizabeth.
He was proud whenever he spoke of his Brothers Perry (Birdie), John, Earl, Harold (Lorraine), Stanley, and Rod (Deanna). He spoke of his Sisters with love: Gloria, Lorna, Lyla, and Betty (Frank). His extended family, whose names are too numerous to list here, includes a great number of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
He was predeceased by his Parents Stanley Joe Peters and Bertha Greta Ewen, as well as his Brother Hugh Glen Peters, twin Siblings John Michael Peters and Joan Marie Peters, and his Earthmate Roberta Elizabeth Peters.

SAM PETERS - WORDS FROM DAD TO YOU
(As given to Darryl Kipp while sitting with Sam at his bedside)
My Mom fed me well;
My Dad taught me good.
My Brothers and Sisters
Watched my back as they should.
I’ve took up a wife,
Had daughters and a son.
Some times got quite hard
But still we had fun.
I thrived in the forest
Where I helped earn our bread.
Was quite good at fishing
But chose logging instead.
My back is so sore,
And so are my knees.
My arms are so tired,
And my joints need some grease.
My body is done,
And so is my mind.
A more peaceful place
I now have to find.
So with these words
I need to say:
Thanks to you all;
But I cannot stay.
I’ve now parked my truck,
And hung up my boots.
I’ve put down my saw;
I’m back to my roots.
Farewell to you all;
Accept all my thanks.
Now please have a beer,
And fill up your tanks.
