It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shelley Holmes on March 8, 2026, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Shelley’s presence was a gift to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy defined by artistic beauty, intellectual curiosity, and an incredibly fierce, nurturing love.
A Partnership of Souls
Born on August 23, 1949, Shelley’s life was anchored by a remarkable 57-year journey alongside her husband and soulmate, Roy Roberts. Whether they were lost in the pages of a book or engaged in a spirited debate over current politics, Shelley and Roy moved through the world together.
The Artist’s Touch
In her studio, Shelley was a master of transformation. Under her hands, clay became an elegant vessel. Her ceramics were much like her personality: sophisticated, resilient, and infused with a quiet beauty that made the everyday feel extraordinary.
Beyond the pottery wheel, Shelley was passionate about genealogy; she spent hours meticulously tracking down our ancestry to ensure that the stories of those who came before were never lost to time.
A Mother’s Fierce Advocacy
For decades, Shelley was a pillar of strength for her son, Jordan. As Jordan faced the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis with immense courage, Shelley stood by him not just as a mother, but as a fierce advocate driven by a deep-seated belief in her son’s dignity and a refusal to let any obstacle dim his spirit. Her resilience in the face of family adversity was the true measure of her character.
Legacy and Remembrance
Shelley’s is survived by her devoted husband, Roy; her beloved son, Jordan; her sister, Karen Sadlier-Brown of Toronto, ON; her brother, Robert Holmes of Richmond, BC; and her sister-in-law, Lynn Pippard of Washington State. She will be deeply missed by her family and a wide circle of friends who valued her generous and kind spirit.
We invite you to share your memories, stories, and photos of Shelley’s life and art on the Dignity Memorial website through Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home. Her creativity, resilience, and love will always be remembered by those she touched.
