Born October 13, 1952, in Neath, Wales, John grew up in Wales before immigrating to Canada in May 1980.
John was an extraordinary and passionate sportsman. A talented all-around athlete, he excelled in rugby, soccer, cricket, boxing, and darts. He proudly captained Porthcawl RFC during the 1978–79 and 1979–80 seasons and also earned a Wales Youth cap while playing with Cardiff City — a testament to his talent and dedication to the game.
John worked for Finning Tractor in Chilliwack and Canada Post before enjoying a long career as a long-haul truck driver across Canada and the USA.
Beyond his achievements in sport, John will be remembered most for his quick wit, his incredible cooking, and his fun, adventurous spirit.
John was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his daughters, grandchildren, his partner, family in Wales, and many friends in both Canada and Wales.
While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing he is at peace — perhaps back on the field playing the sports he loved.
