Donald Frank Hooper

.Mr. Donald Frank Hooper, 73 of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at his residence. Born on July 6, 1941 in Blairsville Ga. he was the son of the late Frank Woodrow and Georgia Corn Hooper. Mr. Hooper attended Rowan Cabarrus Schools and was a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He volunteered for mission work in Honduras and South Africa. Mr. Hooper was active in numerous mission work programs, church renewal journey and NC Baptist Men. Earlier in life he worked for Cannon Mills and Fiber Industries. He was the chaplain at the Peeler Road Truck Stop.

Professionally, Mr. Hooper was a truck driver, having driven for Akers Motor Lines, Hemingway Trucking, and Jones Motor Lines and then retired from Consolidated Freightway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a half sister Louise Yates, who died on December 26, 2014.Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Shirley Vannoy Hooper, sons Ron Hooper (Veronica) of Weddington, NC, Kevin Hooper (fiance' Juli Hellmann ) of Salisbury, daughter Sandra Kiker of Salisbury, and 4 grandchildren; Darin Gribble, Justin Gribble, Erin Hooper and Lucas Hooper.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7:00 til 9:00 at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral on Wednesday at 12:30 at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church with Revs. Phil Goble Jr. and Roger Head, ministers. Burial will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury. Memorials may be made to Blackwelder Park Baptist Chruch, 2204 Summit Ave. Kannapolis,NC 28081.
