Mrs. Elizabeth Reid Garnett, 82 of Salisbury passed away on Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home. Born on January 20, 1935 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late James Mozelle Reid Jr. and Etta Mae Honeycutt.
She was born in a small farmhouse on Rt#150 in Salisbury and at an early age, she learned the importance of education, hard work and integrity. She touched so many lives and loved her extended family as much as her own. Her theory was “everyone has the right to feel sorry for themselves- for 24 hours only – then you need to figure out what to do about it” If she believed in you, she stood solidly by your side. She will be missed by so so many. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, she moved to Washington DC in 1959 and was employed with Giant Foods from 1961 til 1991. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands David Lee, Leo Garnett and R.J. Wilson, as well as siblings; James G. W. Reid, Lucille Morrison, Molly Hill, Etta Lyles, Walter Reid and Bill W. Reid. Those left to cherish her memory are her son David Michael Lee (Kathie) of Ft. Washington Md, daughter Joan Barner of Salisbury NC,and step children, Jessica Laws (Howard) and Jason Wilson (Jennifer), both of Salisbury. In addition, she was survived by brothers in law, Jack Wilson (Betty) and Marvin Wilson, sisters in law Jo Ann Reid, Rita Hand and Ruth Overcash Reid. She was also survived by special family addition Timothy R. Bostian and the original Sarah Amanda Elizabeth. She was survived by 8 grandchildren, Daniel Travis Brandel (Christine) of Richmond, Va. Shannon D. Brandel of King George Va., Dale V. Barner III (Stephanie) of Kannapolis, Sherrie W. Hill (Brian) of Hughesville, Md. Ryan Jacob Laws, Dakota Isiah Laws, Brittany Wilson and Christina Wilson all of Salisbury and 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks go to Liberty Commons Nursing Home especially Shelia in the 400 wing who stayed by her side continuously. You know how we feel about your kindness and thoughtfulness.
