Eustace Lee Sloop

Eustace Lee “Bill” Sloop, age 96 of Salisbury, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Liberty Commons in Salisbury. Born February 21, 1925 in Rowan County, Bill was the son of the late Franklin Monroe Sloop and Mary Felker Sloop. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Ruth Cauble Sloop; his son Jerry Lee Sloop; brothers, David Ray Sloop, Hubert Sloop and James “Bernard” Sloop and sisters, Grace Overcash and Phyllis Condrey.

Bill was a longtime faithful and devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was an active member of the Adult Senior Sunday School class and the Amazing Grace Senior Citizens Group. He loved going to church and lived a life of serving and helping others. In his spare time, Bill loved playing golf and listening to gospel and blue grass music and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Timothy Sloop and Rick Sloop (Sharon) and his daughter, Debbie Parris (Earl) and his daughter in-law, Maribeth Baker (Charlie). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Donnie Sloop (Donna), Daniel Sloop (Angie), Jeremy Parris (Molly) and Matthew Parris (Carly). Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Aria Parris, Daniel Sloop II, Nicholas Sloop, Samantha Sloop and Lauren Wilkinson (Daniel) along with his great-great-grandchildren, Hailee Reynolds and Madison Wilkinson.

Visitation for Bill will be on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church with Funeral Service following at 3:00pm officiated by Rev. Jerome Cloninger. Committal Service will immediately follow in the Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery.
