

Born in Cabarrus County on July 19, 1944, he was the son Floyd David Long, Sr., and Charlotte Viola Holdbrooks Long.
Floyd was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and attended Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC.
He was a former communicator for the NC Highway Patrol Troop E and former Assistant Chief of Rowan County Rescue Squad.
Some of his hobbies included watching baseball, taking trips to Florida during Spring Baseball training, fireworks, listening to beach music and automobile cruise-ins and shows.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother Donald (Beth) Long of Greensboro, NC and nephew, Robert Tyler Long of Charlotte, NC.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM in the Northcrest Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dean Hunter officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Rowan Memorial Park.
