

Salisbury-Hoy Nelson Carter, 77, passed away Saturday morning, June 1, 2013, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born August 7, 1935 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late George Isaac and Nellie Sifford Carter. Educated in the Rowan County schools, Mr. Carter was a retired self employed master carpenter and craftsman. A loyal member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Salisbury, he had been on the church council, and for years, helped care for and maintain the church appearance.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 9 brothers and 3 sisters.
Family members left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Faye Beaver Carter; his children, Connie Carter and husband, Deane Young, his son, Terry Nelson Carter, both of Salisbury and daughter, Carolyn Carter Isaacson and husband, Dennis, of Landis; brothers, Billy Eugene Carter of China Grove and Mayford Thurman Carter of Rockwell and his grandsons, Jacob Daniel Isaacson and Caleb Mitchell Isaacson.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 3, 2013 from 3:00-4:00 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Salisbury. Funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM in the church, conducted by the Revs. Clarence Sifford and Bruce Graham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
