Hubert Edgar Smith

Hubert Edgar Smith, 88, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday June 23, 2016 at the Tucker Hospice House. Hubert was born July 4, 1927 in Mooresville and the son of the late Edgar and Lottie Lipe Smith. j Graduated from Landis High School and retired from Burlington Industries. Wanting to continue working he was employed with Food Lion in China Grove until ill health caused him to quit. He loved to visit shut ins and travel with his wife Velma Marie Bostian Smith who died July 5, 2015. They were married June 29, 1947. He also loved to watch the Grandchildren play baseball. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a son, H. Michael Smith who died April 1, 2009 and a sister, Ethel Smith. Hubert's love of his life was his wife, who he now joins in the Heavenly Kingdom of God. Survivors include daughter, Kathy Smith Deal (Donnie) of China Grove, grandchildren , Kevin (Christy) Deal, Greg (Jessica) Deal and Aaron (Cari) Smith, great grandchildren Cage Deal, Alanna Deal and Harper Deal. Special thanks to Regina Maner caregiver at the home. Nurses at CMC/NE Emily and Chelsea and Penny Shore, a nurse at the Tucker Hospice House. The remainder of the time when the family is not at the funeral home they will be at the residence of his daughter Kathy Deal, 190 Basil Rd. China Grove. Visitation and Services. The family will receive friends at the Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove Tuesday June 28 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm on Wednesday June 29 at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverend Millie Orbison. Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove is serving the Smith family.
