Irene B. Huffman

Mrs. Irene Brewer Huffman, 88, went to be with Jesus on November 1, 2015 at her residence. Born on April 20, 1927 in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Bessie Dean Shoemaker Brewer. Educated in the Iredell County Schools, she attended South China Grove Baptist and China Grove Church of God. She and her husband were founders of Grove Supply Company and Grove Construction Company. She helped start the South Rowan Bible Teaching Association, serving on the finance committee. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. All of her life she put others first and was so proud of her family's love for God and each other.

The family would like to especially thank her care givers Earlene Caldwell and Tammy Bare for such loving care given during the last month.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 48 years, Alvin M. Huffman, who died on February 24, 1991, and her brothers Lester "Schoolie" Brewer, Clay Brewer and James Paul Brewer, sisters Betty Mae Bradley and Martha Faye Cockrell. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Jerry M Huffman (Joann), Tony L. Huffman (Glenda), and Mark S. Huffman (Karen) all of China Grove. She also was survived by her grandchildren; Andy, Jeremy, Michael, Aaron, and Landon Huffman, Jamie Renken, Julie Hines, Lauren Lowe, and Jana Sprinkle and 14 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 12:30 til 2:30 at South China Grove Baptist Church, with funeral at 2:30 also at the church with Revs. Tony Wagner and Steve Sprinkle, ministers.
