

James Coy "JC" Holder, 83, passed away Friday morning, September 23, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury. Born January 8, 1928 in Anson County, he was a son of the late Oscar Coy and Nancy Rebecca Brooks Holder. Educated in the Anson County Schools, Mr. Holder honorably served his country in the US Army and had retired as a supervisor with Cannon Mills, after more than 46 years of service. A charter and founding member of South China Grove Church of God, Mr. Holder had been a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, choir member and director, had served as church treasurer, elder and on the board of directors. He loved his Lord and church and served both in many ways. Mr. Holder was a faithful, good hearted, devoted family man who also enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, working on cars, was a skilled carpenter, could fix anything and enjoyed motorcycles in his earlier life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Floyd Holder, Sr.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt in China Grove. Funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 AM at South China Grove Church of Gad, conducted by the Rev. Phillip Robinson. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, with military graveside rites.
Loving family members include his wife of 66 years, Alice Morton Holder, his son, Tommy Holder and wife, Andrea, of Concord, daughter, Lynn Holder Harkey and husband, Jeff, China Grove, his grandchildren, Tommy Holder, Jr. and Brandon Holder, both of Lake Wylie, Matthew Harkey, China Grove, Jeff Harkey, Jr. and wife, Kristina, Kannapolis, his great-granddaughter, Mina Harkey and numerous nieces and nephews.
