

Born in Stanley County on December 30, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Cox and Estelle Burris Cox. In addition to her parents, Judy was also preceded in death by ten siblings and her husband, Billy Ray Blackwell, who passed away January 5, 2022.
Judy worked in textiles for several years, but spent most of her working career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a faithful and beloved member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are children, Paul Lynn Blackwell of Salisbury, NC, Elvis Ray Blackwell of Missouri and Lorrie Hinsdale (Gary) of Mocksville, NC and one sister, Mary Helms.
She is further survived by ten grandchildren, Isaiah Atwell, Jacob Atwell, Rebekah Starr, Noah Atwell, William Hinsdale, Jordan Blackwell, Christie Blackwell, Andrew Blackwell, Steve Wagoner and Lindsey Reddell; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 28, 2025 from 12:00 Pm – 1:00 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church 1025 Ed Weavers Road Salisbury, NC.
The funeral will begin at 1:00 PM with Rev. Paul Moss and Rev. John Melton officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church.
