

Born in Rowan County on January 24, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thad William Smith and Mable Parks Smith.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy William Karriker; her son, Larry William Karriker; her brothers Paul (Audrey) Smith and Ralph (Dorothy) Smith and one sister, Louise (Grady) Bost.
She graduated from Landis High School and Lenoir-Rhyne University. Nancy retired from Holiday Finance, owned Karriker Daylily Gardens and worked as a Timekeeper at Cannon Mills.
Nancy was the oldest and longest member of Piedmont Iris Society for 65+ years and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Becky Karriker; granddaughter, Gail Safrit and great-grandson, Colt Safrit.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Concordia Lutheran Church.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor Carlin Ours officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest following the service in the church cemetery.
