Ola Mae Harrison

Born on April 1, 1929, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late John Caleb Goodman and Lottie Mae Sloop Goodman. She was a 1947 graduate of Landis High School and worked in the office at Cannon Mills for almost 20 years. She later worked for a short time in the Knollwood Elementary cafeteria, but devoted most of her life to loving and caring for her family, serving in her church, and stewarding a beloved family farm with her husband.

She was a faithful member of Back Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was a choir member and active in the Morning Circle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Isaac Harrison, Sr., whom she married March 14, 1959, her son Mark Harrison, her brothers Carl, Elmer, and Walter Goodman, and her sisters Dorothy Weddington, Margaret Cress, Gladys Weddington, and Mildred Overcash.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Merri Jo Freeze (Laird) and sons Ben Harrison Jr. (Pam) and Eric Harrison (Kim); grandchildren, Tim Freeze (Breanna), Hannah Babcock (Michael), McKamie Youngblood (Caleb), David Freeze (Nicole), Caitlin Sullivan (Andy), Laura Harrison, Ben Harrison III; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Hadley Freeze, Ray, Mitchell, and Joel Babcock, Miriam Youngblood, John Mark and Lucas Freeze, and Lilly Sullivan, and she was eagerly anticipating the births of Marigold Youngblood and Hazel Sullivan in the coming weeks. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to her caregivers Janet Lee, Sandie Kiker, Angie Link, and Kay Nelson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Funeral and burial will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Back Creek Presbyterian Church, Mount Ulla, with Rev. Bill Thrailkill officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Back Creek Presbyterian Church, 2145 Back Creek Church Rd. Mt. Ulla, NC 28125.
