Paul was born in Evanston Illinois to O. Patrick and Irene B. Struve in 1951. When Paul was a toddler, the family moved first to Texas, then Louisiana, Arkansas and eventually
the Chicago suburb of Glenview Illinois. Paul often considered this his hometown.
After graduating high school, he attended Brandywine College (now Widener), Oregon State University and University of Delaware, where he graduated with a degree in Biology.
He worked for ICI Americas (Wilmington DE) and Glaxo (Research Triangle Park) and Burleson Research Technologies (Morrisville, NC.) before retiring in 2011.
Some of his greatest joys in life were music, fishing with his family and being a father to his two daughters, Lisa and Sarah Struve. Whenever his daughters started a new activity,
he was always first to ask “how can I help make this a great time?” He held title of chief in Lisa’s Indian Princess Tribe, built an amazing air mattress boat that won the DIY race with
Sarah’s tribe, was an endless volunteer at both of his daughter’s school activities, and held the coveted title of “Band Dad” at Athens Drive High School.
Paul is survived by his daughters Lisa Struve and Sarah Struve (Robbie Smith), sisters Terry Struve and Shelley Sullivan and nephew Danny Sullivan and niece Bridget Sullivan.
Donations can be made to the North Carolina Zoo, Alzheimer’s Foundation or Sylvan Heights Bird Park.
