

Born in Madison County, GA on November 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late James Cleo Edwards and Pauline Hardman Burr.
Upon graduation from A.L. Brown High School, Phyllis went to work for Southern Bell Telephone Company in Charlotte, NC as an operator. She grew with the company, now AT&T, retiring after 42 years of service, working primarily in Charlotte, and at various times in New York City, NY.
Phyllis loved to travel, going to Hawaii and she spent several years at Myrtle Beach, SC. She loved gardening; taking care of her family and was a very independent woman. The family will always cherish the fond memories, the big red Cadillac and the funny stories they have of Phyllis.
Surviving Phyllis are her sister, Charlotte Crowell; niece, Vicky Poteat (Hayden); nephew, Edwin Wesley Crowell, Jr. (Marilyn); her grandnephews, James Edward Poteat and Gregory Alan Crowell; grandnieces, Hollie Poteat and Jenna Anderson and eight great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
The family will speak to friends Monday, March 25, 2024 from 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM in the Northcrest Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Mike Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
