Robert Edward Sloop

Robert Edward Sloop 92, of Salisbury passed away on Thursday July 12, 2012 at the Lutheran Homes at Trinity Oaks. Born on January 7, 1920 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late N.C. and Margaret Felker Sloop. A graduate of Farm Life School, he was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Chruch. Mr. Sloop served his country in the US Army during WWII. He retired from Cannon Mills after 45 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Basinger Sloop in 1972, his siblings, Geneva O'Neill, Charlie, Marvin, John, Albert and Sam Sloop. Those left to cherish his memories is his wife Mattie Lee Graham Sloop, children, Robert Douglas Sloop (Barbara), Debbie File (Ernest) both of Salisbury and Dianne Heilig (Jerry) of China Grove, step children, Sarah Jackson (Don) Nancy Shetley, W.A. Graham (Lettie),Deborah Brown (Doug), Delanne Graham, Robert Graham, (Gloria) and Mark Graham (Judy), brothers, Otho and Crawford Sloop of Salisbury, grandchildren, Chris Sloop, Robin Bernhardt, Karen Hurst, Justin and Travis File. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Carson Hurst, Lauren and Jake Bernhardt and Keaton Sloop. 7 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10-11 at Grace Lutheran Church with funeral at 11 also at the church with burial at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, 3020 Grace Church Rd. Salisbury, NC 28147.
