

Roy graduated from high school in 1956. He was awarded a vocal scholarship in music at Central Washington College of Education in Ellensburg, Washington. During his time there, he toured with the "Central Singers" concert band from 1956 to 1960 and formed a vocal quartet in the style of "The Four Freshmen."
He dedicated several years to teaching vocal and instrumental music at Dr. Martin Luther College and Academy in New Ulm, Minnesota, from 1961 to 1965. In 1962, Roy married Janice Ann Laust in Newport, Minnesota. Their marriage spanned 56 years before Janice's passing to her heavenly home in 2018. They were blessed with three children: Terry Jo Schuh (Joe) of South St. Paul, Minnesota, Martin Kenneth Zimmermann (April) of China Grove, North Carolina, and Scot Cole Zimmermann of Salisbury, North Carolina. Roy and Janice were also proud grandparents to Benjamin Schuh and Olivia Schuh, both of South St. Paul, Minnesota.
In 1966, Roy was hired by Univac, the Defense Systems Division of Sperry Corporation, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served in various management roles until 1986, after which he transferred to the Salt Lake City division of Sperry Corporation. Roy took advantage of an early retirement inducement in 1993.
A service of Christian comfort will be held at Union Lutheran Church 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146 at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 10th.
