Born in Iredell County on June 18, 1970, he was the son of the late Walter Wayne Basinger, Sr. and Linda Faye Stiller Basinger, who survives.
Wayne was known for being a master of many trades, in which he excelled. He was employed with Brown and Root as a Safety Manager. He received many certificates/achievements, including 2 associate degrees, the latter being completed in 2021 with honors. He was also a NCCER Master Instructor and OSHA 500 & 502 Instructor.
He loved hunting, to which he always referred to himself as a “lifetime hunter, and a part-time everything else”. Most of all, he was a great husband, father, grandfather and son. He loved to spend time with his family above anything else.
Wayne was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the WSO – World Safety Organization and the US Concealed Carry Association. He previously had worked as a correctional officer and was a volunteer fireman with China Grove Fire Department.
In addition to his mother, Linda, he is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anne Shoemaker Basinger; his children, Alex Basinger, Shantile (Brian) Rangel and Jessica Basinger; grandchildren, Maxon Wayne, Montana Smith and Kiah Leviner, and one sister, Pamela (Mike) Beaver.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home with Pastor Nancy Rangel Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
