

China Grove-Walter Arthur Miller, 92, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, at CMC-Northeast Medical Center. Born December 1, 1921 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late David Arthur and Addie Mae Stewart Miller. Educated in the Iredell County schools, he had honorably served his country with the US Army, during WWII. Mr. Miller had been in construction most all of his life, working for several companies, including R.T. Dooley Construction Company of Charlotte. Loving the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, his "truck farm", and could make and fix anything.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted step-mother, Roxie Albright Miller, who raised him; his wife, Irene Bogan Miller; 2 sons, David Roy Miller and an infant son; and his son-in-law, Billy Wilson.
Family members left with cherished memories include his daughters, Sandra Miller and Deborah "Debbie" Wilson; his brothers, Carl Miller and Harold Miller (Clarice); sisters, Irene Brookshire, Kathleen Walters, Louise Drye and Nancy Schaffer (Joe); his grandsons, Jeremy Wilson (Kristan), Joshua Wilson (Brandy) and Matthew Wilson (Jaimie); and his great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jeb, Emma, Amber, Gracie, Emily, Grace, Logan and Jacob.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove, and will be at the home of Debbie Wilson at other times. Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Miller's life will be at 2:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2014, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Grace Lutheran Church Cemetery, with military graveside rites, conducted by the NC Honor Guard and Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard.
