Albert Louis Ybarra was born to Frank Ybarra and Rufina L. Rincon in 1948 in Buena Park, California. Later in Life Rufina married Phillip H. Reyes. Albert was adopted by Phillip and took his family name. He became Albert Louis Reyes.
In his early days he attended schools in Chino and graduated from Chino High School in 1966. Albert met Mary Lou Galindo (‘67) while attending Chino High, and as high school sweethearts they decided to get married in 1968. After graduating he attended MTSAC and then was drafted into the US Army in mid 1968. Albert was stationed in Germany for two years. He was able to travel and enjoy Europe with his wife and eldest son Albert Jr. (1968) while in the service from 1968 to 1970. Adrian (1972) and Kristina (1976) were born in the years that followed his return to the states. Albert returned to school attending Cal Poly Pomona, and eventually received an AA in Business Administration from MTSAC.
For a short period of time after the military, he worked at a local poultry ranch in Chino, then found his home at Stator Brothers Markets in their distribution department in the late 1970’s. Albert delivered groceries for the better part of thirty years to all the Stator Brothers Markets in Southern California. He was very proud of being a recipient of the “Million Mile” Safe Driver Award and became one of their top drivers when he retired from Stators in 2005.
During his time when the kids were young, he was an active Coach for Chino National Little League, Chino AYSO, Chino Recreation Football, a volunteer for Chino 4-H “Chino Busy Farmers,” and Chino Girls Fast Pitch. He played in several Adult Softball Leagues in the Chino, Pomona, and Ontario areas. One of his main hobbies was to assist families and friends fixing their homes with construction repairs. Albert enjoyed helping others.
After retirement, he enjoyed watching MLB games, going to Parker Arizona, camping in his RV, doing his “construction projects,” spending time watching his grandchildren’s sporting events & activities, and fixing “odds and ends” around the house.
Albert is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou, siblings Becky Salas, Diana Duque, Frank Ybarra Jr., Tressie Rubio, Alice (Ron) Caringella, children Albert (Antoinette) Reyes Jr., Adrian Reyes, Kristina (Huby) Badios, and Claudia (Tony) Montelongo, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents Phillip & Rufina Reyes, Father Frank Ybarra, and Brother Louise Ybarra. His laughter, smile, and good humor will be greatly missed by many families and friends.
Services will be held on June 9, 2023, at 10:00 am. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 5048 D St., Chino CA. 91710. Interment will be at 1:30 pm. at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside CA. 92518. All Family and Friends are welcome to attend.
