Hi Grandpa,
I hope you are enjoying the heavenly view and amenities of the afterlife.  My imagination runs wild with all the possibilities and capabilities you might now have. I'm glad you were able to meet my daughter and see the beginning of a new generation.  I will share with Ruby Rose how outrageously funny you could be. I will miss the inappropriate comments the most and I will be sure to add all the colorful language so she can get a true sense of who you were.  Ruby has been giving Grandma extra love and bringing much joy to our family. Thank you for loving me and being your true self. 

We miss you very much on this earth.

Dear Dad,

 I am so sad that we have to be apart. I remember the day you went away, that loss has broken my heart. It is difficult to imagine you not being around to share your wisdom with your funny, raw and truthful comments.  I think of you every day and miss you so. Just know when I hear your name I will smile with pride that you were my Dad. Rest in peace Dad!

Grandpa - I miss you and can't wait to see you in heaven again.  I wish I got to spend more time with you.  Thank you for teaching me how how to shoot  a pellet gun.  I had fun shooting pigeons with you which I will always remember.  Love Justin

Frank, I will miss you dearly.  You have been a great father in law. "Suegro" as you would always remind me.  I   Thank you and Dinah for raising a beautiful family that I am proud to be part of.  I will always remember you as a hard working man  and someone who always put and thought of his family first.  Ya you were one tough Mexican - A Ramirez!  And  if you were here now - you know I would be telling you that.  You gave Ken a lot of your values and traits to be a hard working family man.  Thank you - I miss you and love you - Michelle

I miss my dad and I will meet him again.  There have been many times that I have wanted to call him but knew could not.  He has been an inspiration to me and taught me many good lessons on how to be a family man and work hard which I want to pass down his legacy to my son Justin.  I appreciate the many years  that he hung around even though his health was deteriorating he was always in good spirits which taught me a valuable lesson of the important things in life - his family!  And when things get hard on you - you keep going because you're a Ramirez! Tough Mexican as Michelle would say.  On every October 21st I will be celebrating 2 birthdays - my sons birthday and my dads day of being born again and now he is living his life in heaven with two legs, a full healthy body as a young man with his mom and family and I look forward to seeing him again.  For now I will cherish all the memories I have had with him.  I love you dad - Ken

Wise. Kind. Giving. HILARIOUS. Grandpa was an awesome human being. His inquisitive mind continues to inspire me. His perspective has humbled me, many many times. I value the dedication, love and humor he showed Grandma throughout my whole entire life. 

My heart will be forever grateful that he shared his life with me.

The memories I will carry with me about my beloved husband are immense,He was to me an amazing man.
Frank and I stared our journey at a young age, !7 and 20.hardly an age to be prepared for what lie ahead. but together we knew we would make the best of it.

Frank was a great person,he was kindhearted and loving,He loved his family tremendously,He would speak of his siblings and their families with such love and admiration.
In his genealogy research,he would tell me of his findings and the excitement that the next day he could start his search again.

He loved being around our children,it was the most happy and joyous time of his life,He loved our son and daughters very much and he was extremely proud of them.

 Because of the years we spent together and the love we shared, I will be forever grateful that they were filled with love.

I am glad that many years ago. we took on that journey that has brought so many loving memories.
He will forever live in my heart.

The following prayer was read at the memorial service.


All-merciful God, in this silent field,
where the earthly remains of my departed father rest,
I dedicate my tears and emotions to his memory.

Now that I have lost my dear father from this earthly life, I fully know what a treasure of love I once possessed in him.

He -the faithful guide of my youth, my monitor and counselor - wisely watched over the ennoblement of my spirit and strengthening of my body.

He enlightened my mind and filled my heart with love.

He submitted joyfully to all the struggles of life so that I might gain the joys of life.

O my dear father.
Remembering you, my tears stream forth and my heart overflows with love and grief.

But what good can my love do for you now?
It can no longer cause you earthly joy and happiness - you, who are far removed from all earthly wishes, wants, and cares. 

BUT doing good, practicing charity, ennobling the heart- these are the heavenly joys a child may prepare for a blessed father.

And these joys I will prepare for you by performing good actions in your name and in your spirit. These shall be the sacrifice I will offer up on the altar of my love.

May God record them in the Book of Eternal Life for your blessing and redemption in your heavenly home.

O God of heaven and earth, as my righteous father has left behind, in paternal love, his blessing for me, so do I, from a child's love, bless his memory before you and pray to you for the redemption of his soul

Oh, may you remember him in love and mercy.
May you remember every noble deed, every good action he performed on this earth, and graciously forgive whatever sin and transgression he may have committed out of human weakness.

And may all the suffering, troubles, tribulations, and hardships he endured during his earthly journey be his atonement and sacrifice before you, that he may partake of eternal peace, blessing, and redemption in Your divine presence. Amen.

Dad was always an avid reader. It is one of the precious gifts he and my mom bestowed on us. His vast knowledge spanned many unusual and yet popular topics. Many who asked a question of dad would get an explanation above and beyond belief.

Having said this, one can appreciate how his knowledge base and eagerness to absorb information, especially historical, was invaluable when it came to genealogy research. 

In the summer of 2006, mom, dad, and I drove to Colorado to visit family. We stayed a night in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Part of my plan was to research our family history. Both mom and dad were supportive in my search and they joined me at the State Archives. 

Mom perused historical books while sitting on a cushy chair. Dad worked with me on the State Archives' computer. The research surrounded my dad's grandparent's marriage records - Julian and Juliana Mitchell. Our four-hour effort culminated in our holding a copy of their marriage records. I was thrilled and surprised when that moment struck a deep cord within my dad. The genealogy bug bit him, big-time.

From that moment Dad jumped into the world of "Google Search". Slowly gaining skill and confidence, he adeptly managed to maneuver genealogy websites. Advantageously, dad's home was near Chino's Mormon Genealogy Family Center. He was a frequent visitor. A few times we went together. I was amazed how well he knew his way around the historical records. The staff knew him well! In fact, one couple during the holidays always sent him home with baked goods.

At home he set up their extra bedroom with a Murphy bed to expand his office with more workspace along with a computer, printer, and file cabinet. The bookshelves carried a variety of history books, maps from different periods, and large notebooks filled with printed material on each family member within our genealogical line.

He printed EVERYTHING! 
Mom would often comment about the printers' non-stop whirling when dad was in his office. Organizing the massive collection was an evolving process for dad. However, in the end, dad left me an amazingly organized set of notebooks along with history books revealing our family's story.  He even left a treasured hand-written notebook with a few stories of his earliest memories. 

Because of this joint venture our relationship grew in a very special way. It was based on discovery and the potent power of legacy. Maybe because of this both dad and I apologized to each other for letting one another down in our earlier years. Every single day I think of him. His memory will live forever in my mind and heart.

I love you dad, and miss you deeply.

I will always remember and love my Grandfather! I'm so proud of him. He was a soldier to his Country, a provider for his family and a hero to his grandson. I will never forget the life lessons that he bestowed. As I look back on all the memories we shared, I realize what a blessing it was that I was a part of his LIFE, and I find peace knowing that he will continue to be part of mine. I love you Grandpa.

Wise and tough on the outside yet always had compassion for the underdog.

He was the type of person that read everything even the fine print on a cereal box.  This gave Frank the ability to jump into any conversation with facts.

His wisdom would sometimes be funny.  Like the time one of his neighbors was talking about a memory of President Kennedy that he witnessed.  Frank was quick to remind his neighbor that he could not have witnessed the event because he was not alive at that time.  

He never stopped wanting to learn.

Frank love to go to the flea market, auctions, and yard sales even if he was not looking to buy anything and seem to know everyone there.  He rarely came home empty handed.  Everyone would joke that if you mention an item that you would like to have, Frank would buy one for you before you could consider anything else.  One such item Frank found for me is an electric 3-hole punch for my office, which I now have owned for several years; and will treasure forever.

Frank loved to fix and build things.  He always said it was to save money, however many times I think he just enjoyed the challenge.  A great example of this was when he went back to Colorado in the 80's instead of buying a house he found one that was going to be torn down so he had it moved to empty lot.  Which meant he had to do the civil engineering of the lot, the placement of the house on a foundation, and hook up all of the power, water, and appliances.  I think he may have left the decorating to his wife Dinah.

To this day the best vacation I have had was a bus trip to Copper Canyon in Mexico with Frank, Dinah, and Kathleen.  This was no quick trip.  We spent 2 weeks travelling through Mexico in a bus.  Yes a bus.  My best memories were not of what we seen, but the conversations we had.

I enjoyed listening to the stories that Frank and my wife Kathleen had related to their discoveries about the Ramirez family tree.  In addition to spending hours studying documents they travelled through out Colorado and New Mexico visiting church sites, graves, and historical centers.

Frank loved Western movies.  If you asked Frank what he wanted to watch on TV he would respond anything that has a horse and cowboy.

Our Grandpa Frank was a very smart and humble man. He loved to read and talk, he knew facts from what is the weight of water, the inner workings of an engine to American history. When he shared his stories he would weave in his experience of life from owning his own business to the multiple side jobs he had.  And between the details of his tales you could hear Grandpa teach that our family was truly blessed and we are more fortunate than others. For this, I deeply respect how he help grow the humility within me.  Separately, he would always seem to lighten the mood with laughter by his "sayings." Like "wind in your tires" or "keep the shiny side up" when we drove home from a visit.  There are many more stories I look forward to sharing with my daughter and with those who knew him well. We love you Grandpa and we will see you soon.

Terribly said, what a great presence and great personality Frank had.  We will always remember him.  Our love to his wonderful family.  A big hug to our dear Valerie and Edwina!  Blessings and peace.

I met Frank and his lovely wife, Edwina at L.A. Fitness Chino Hills as they were part of my Aqua class there several years ago and I'd see them on a regular basis there for exercise in the pool.  

Even though in the last couple of years he joined another gym, he, his wife, Edwina, and their daughter Valerie remained part of our lunch group and even had several Aqua Group Christmas parties at their clubhouse which were well attended and so much fun.

I remember Frank as a man who loved his family well.  He had a deep interest in genealogy and thoroughly enjoyed looking through family historical records to read about his family's past to piece together their history.

He was a proud Army Vet who often spoke of his children and how at his age didn't want to burden them.  He didn't feel it would be right even though his children never minded caring for him in his last years after diabetes took his limbs.  

He loved his children and was so very proud of the people they became, never giving much thought to the fact that he and his wife played a BIG part in building strong character in his children over the years.  They were never far from his mind and were often times mentioned in his conversations.  What a proud papa!

He loved his wife, Edwina so very much and was so very blessed to have celebrated over 60 years of marriage with her.  Frank came from a time where Marriage was for life and for that legacy, I am thankful. 

To his daughter, Valerie and her husband--Thank you for caring for your dad and your mom showing us around you the love you had for him and your mom.  He was so blessed at the parties you so lavishly threw for him and your mom's 60th Anniversary and his recent birthday party.  He was so touched and so were we all by his family's deep love for him.

God bless Frank's dear family.  May God hold you and sustain you with wonderful memories of his voice and laughter until you are together again in eternity.

Frank had a kind welcoming spirit and I always felt comfortable in his presence. The last time I saw him he didn't hesitate to put in his "two bits" of wisdom which was wonderful and thought provoking. That is how he will live in my memory.

I remember my Uncle Frank delivering 1 case of pepsi and 1 case or orange soda pop to my grandma every two weeks.  I thought he was Santa Clause.  The man was a genius the way he got work, made everything from nothing and one of the most intelligent men I ever knew.  I was so proud and still am.  Alas him living in Calif. I didn't see him much and am sad for my getting lost making a living that I forget to make a life.  I will always remember him and thank my lucky stars I have some of his blood flowing in me.
