Wini Kline, born Winifred Ellen Reid, recently passed away at the age of 93. While most of her adult life was spent in Whittier and Chino Hills, she was living at the Emeritus Grand Terrace Assisted Living facility when she died on February 7, 2015. She was greeted upon passing by her beloved husband, Robert Jerome Kline, who she married in 1942, and two of their children, Lynn Marie Pignataro and Robert Daniel Kline.
She is survived by her four other children, James Mike Kline and his wife, Kathleen, living in Pennsylvania, his sons Jeff and wife, Tanya and their children, Payton and Austin, and Scott and his former wife, Rhonda, and their children, Lane and Emery; Janet Kline Cook and her husband, James, who reside in Germany, and their daughters, Danielle and Marie; Teresa Beams, her husband, Terry, of Fontana, and her sons, Justin and Jared; and Joann Kline, who lives in Tucson. Her daughter, Lynn, was married to Gus Pignataro, and their family comprise the rest of the kids and grandkids, Lisa and husband, Tim Holden; Julie Marie and husband, Chris Gwin, and their daughters, Kate and Addison; and Jeffrey.
Wini was born June 22, 1921, in her family’s apartment atop the Santa Monica Pier carousel, which was managed by her father, George Fredrick Reid. She was named after her mother, Winifred Ashe Reid. Her older brother, George Frederick Reid and his wife, Dorothy Banner, pre-deceased Wini. Her younger sister, Catherine Elaine Chauncey, and her husband, Hal, attended the memorial services. She grew up in Santa Cruz and Long Beach. She and Bob raised their children in Whittier and spent their retirement, when not traveling, in Chino Hills.
A rosary and memorial service were held Feb. 12, 2015, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Chino Hills. Bob and Wini were founding members of that congregation. Officiating were Father Michael Barry, SSCC, a long-time family friend who also presided at the funerals of both Danny and Bob Kline, and Father Michael Maher, the first pastor of St. Paul’s. The burial took place that afternoon at Resurrection Cemetery in Rosemead.
Wini's life was full of activity and service. She worked in many organizations in her children's schools, her churches, and her community. To commemorate her life, please continue her legacy of service by finding a group or cause to which you can contribute your time and talents.]
