She leaves behind her son Gary Stofle and his wife Cheryl, Grandchildren Jim and Erin Rafael, Joe and Julie Harris, Victor and Melissa Sousa, Amy Goersch, and Dustin and Jen Campbell. Great Grandchildren Sebastian and Victoria Cyran, Gideon Plunkett, Chloe Plunkett, Roman Rafael, Talia Campbell, Jaxon Campbell, Hannah Harris, Jeslyn Harris, Ashley Sousa, Bex Campbell and Luke Sousa, and her sister Charlotte Seymore.
She is preceded in death by her Husband Cliff Stofle, son Ted Stofle and sister Barbara Thulin and her parents Harold and Elsie Kiser and her mom Phyllis Kiser.
Harlene was born in Santa Monica California on July 28, 1932, to her parents Harold and Elsie Kiser, she was raised in El Portal California and attended Mariposa High School, where she graduated as Salutatorian on June 1, 1950. She gained a new loving Mom Phyllis on March 7th, 1937.
Harlene married Clifford Stofle on June 28, 1952. Together they built a life filled with joy and were blessed to have raised their 2 sons, Ted and Gary. And she watched her grandchildren grow up and have children of their own. She said one of her proudest accomplishments is her family.
Harlene’s first job was a reservation clerk at Yosemite National Park. She worked at the Merced County Library in Planada, California for many years before going to work for Merced County Welfare Department in the Mailroom and later becoming a Supervisor, where she retired from on October 2nd 1992.
Harlene’s words of wisdom reflect her resilient spirit:
“Keep a positive attitude, accept what comes your way and TRUST God to help you through. Laugh a lot, it’s good for the soul. Let your faith be stronger than your fears.”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 11:00 am, at the Valley Harvest Church, 717 Robertson Blvd., Chowchilla, California.
