Joyce L. Maddalena was born on October 20, 1928 in Madera, California to the parents of Ray and Bessie Balmat. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce L. Maddalena on September 17, 2018 at the age of 89 in Chowchilla, California. Joyce was lifelong resident of Chowchilla, California.
Joyce attended the local schools and graduated from Chowchilla Union High School. She then married Richard J. Maddalena, her husband of 46 years and they had two sons Dale and Gary. She and her husband had a dairy and a farming operation. They grew cotton, alfalfa, wheat and almonds. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and mother-in-law and she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved very much spending time with her family. Some of her other interests were reading, cooking and collecting cookbooks.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Richard Maddalena; son Gary Maddalena; parents Ray and Bessie Balmat; sisters Bernice Murphy, Shirley McCowan, and Gwen Todhunter; and brother Harold Balmat.
Joyce is survived by her son Dale (Yvonne) Maddalena; Gary Maddalena’s partner Pam Richardson; granddaughters Janelle (Mike) Eggert, Andrea (Jose) Sahagun; her great grandchildren Nick Eggert, Lauren Ross, Brianna Gibbs, Michael Eggert, Cecelia Sahagun and Joseph Sahagun.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, Chowchilla, California. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, Chowchilla, California. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to a favorite charity of your choice in honor of Joyce.
