

Richard Frank Herman was born on March 31, 1943 and passed away at the age of 73 on November 29, 2016. Richard graduated from Chowchilla Union High School in 1961, and then went on to work in the dairy industry until the 70’s. Many people saw Richard like a father, he was just the type of person that greeted you with a smile, a joke, and a great big bear hug. He was always willing to help others in their time of need. He was a resident of Chowchilla, California all of his life. He owned and operated Richard Herman’s Backhoe. He was previously a member of the Chowchilla Lions Club; where he played Santa Claus for many years. He was also a member of the Trade Club, Festival Board, Ducks Unlimited, and California Waterfowl. He would also help prepare the meat for the Chowchilla fair. Richard was an avid bowler, loved to play cards, and pitched for slow pitch and baseball. Richard is preceded in death by his father, Andrew “Andy” Herman; mother, Nellie Redding Herman (Davis); and his brother, David Herman. He is survived by his wife, Linda Herman; children, Becky Willoughby, Cindy Herman, and Misty Hopp. He also left behind his brother, Alfred Herman, and his 2 grandchildren with 1 great grandchild on the way.
