June 18, 1955 – December 18, 2024
Ruben Cervantes Guido, 69, of Chowchilla, unexpectedly passed away on December 18,
2024, after bravely battling lung cancer. Ruben, lovingly known as 'Tata,' was born on June 18,
1955, to Jesus and Josephina Cervantes in Panindícuaro, Michoacán. He carried the values
instilled by his parents, kindness, hard work, and a deep love for family throughout his life. At a
young age, Ruben immigrated to Chowchilla, where as a teenager, he met his wife, Flora.
Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Ruben was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Flora, with whom he shared 47 years
of marriage. Together, they raised three children, Suzy (Meno), Monica, and Ruben Jr., who were
the pride and joy of his life. Ruben’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his
grandchildren, who lovingly called him 'Tata.' His grandchildren, Adam, who preceded him,
Destiny, Desiree, Aidan, Dominick, Aaron and Ava, will forever cherish his animated
storytelling, playful humor, silly dance moves, extravagant singing, and heartwarming laughter.
His memory will continue to live on in their hearts.
Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Josephina, as well as his beloved
brother, Rafael, whose memory he cherished deeply. His legacy lives on through his devoted
wife, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren, and his siblings: Mario, Salvador, Jose
Luis, Lupe, Teresa, Amparo, and Bertha. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended
family, including nieces, nephews, and countless relatives, all of whom hold him close in their
hearts. Not a day went by without Ruben calling to check in on all of his family and friends. He
loved his family and friends deeply and would do anything to put a smile on their face.
Ruben’s simple joys in life included spending time with family, blasting Los Bukis, Juan
Gabriel, or Los Yonics on his antique radio, dancing, watching action movies, and eating his
favorite sweets with a nice cup of coffee. An ideal day for Ruben was spent at home surrounded
by his children and grandchildren, enjoying carnitas for dinner while action movies or his
favorite music played in the background. Ruben was a self taught mechanic and welder, his
dedication to his career in agricultural mechanics and welding was something he took great pride
in. He dedicated himself to building a wonderful life for his family, filled with love and support.
Though Ruben’s life was tragically shortened by lung cancer, he faced his diagnosis with
incredible strength, resilience, and grace. Not a day went by that Ruben didn’t try to make those
around him smile, even when he wasn’t feeling his best. He spent his final months surrounded by
the people he loved, sharing stories, laughter, and wisdom. Ruben will be remembered for his
kindness, strength, and the love he shared with everyone around him. He will live on in the
hearts of all who knew him and will be deeply missed. We love you Tata.
