

Calvin was born on December 2, 1949 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Harold and Louise (Crabtree) Hill. He graduated from Circleville High School, Class of 1969. After graduation, Calvin enlisted in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1992. He was a proud Veteran and served 3 tours including the Vietnam War. He travelled the world in his career, including Misawa, Japan and Angel City, the Philippines where his children were born. After retiring from the Air Force, Calvin liked staying busy and worked various careers, including real estate, Lowes, security guard and Wal-Mart.
Calvin loved his family and it was his everything. He was a loving husband, dad and Papa Bear. He loved the holidays with his family, especially Fourth of July cookouts and Christmas. Birthdays were very important and special that he made it a point everyone went out to eat for their day. He was a one of a kind and made an impact on anyone he met.
In addition to his parents, Calvin is preceded in death by his son, Calvin Hicks II, and his aunt, Rosemary.
Calvin is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Louella Hicks; his children, April (Mike) McDonie and Sara Hicks; his grandchildren, Tristin McDonie and Christopher McDonie; his brother, Gary Hicks; his aunt, Barbara; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 10:00am to 12:00pm noon at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger, 151 E Main St, Circleville, Ohio. A Graveside service will follow with Military Honors at 12:30pm at Forest Cemetery, Circleville, Ohio.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff for his care and their empathy and compassion to his family at the VA Hospital in Chillicothe and the ICU and Stepdown units at Adena Hospital.
