Janet Gene Carter

Janet was born at home in a farm house in Jackson Township, Pickaway County, Ohio on April 21, 1931 to the late Bryan and Gladys (Keller) Russell. She graduated Jackson Township High School, and then went to office training school in Columbus. Janet was an executive secretary and retired in 1993 from Reynolds Metal Co. She was a member of the Circleville Heritage Church of the Nazarene. She volunteered in the church office and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She met Wayne before he enlisted in the military, and they were married in August 1952. Janet and Wayne enjoyed traveling and going on cruises, including all over the US and Europe. Her faith and her family were the most important things in her life and she was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and extended family. Janet was an exceptional seamstress and loved cooking for her family.

In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Wayne F. Carter, her siblings, Donald L. Russell, Opal Overly, and Evelyn Pontious, and her great-grandson, Bentley Long.

She is survived by her daughter, Terry Lynn, her sons, Mark (Tracey) and Steve (Cathy), her grandchildren, Tina (Jared) Stucki, Renee (Jon) Glover, Kyle (Majoanna) Greenwood, Jacob (Tiffany) Carter, Jared (Allison) Carter, Brenda (Michael) Baker, Barbara Herrel, Brandy (Michael) Long, and Justin Carter, and 19 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Monday, January 27, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E Main St, Circleville, OH. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Deana Dupler officiating. Janet will be laid to rest next to Wayne at Jackson Township Cemetery.
