Alejandro “Alex” Villalobos, 34, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, after a brave and tireless battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Born on June 7, 1991, in Houston, Texas, Alex was proud of where he came from and carried that pride with him throughout his life.
Alex is survived by his loving wife, Maira Ibarra, and their two children: daughter Alessandra Villalobos (4) and son Maximiliano Villalobos (1), whom he adored with all his heart and were the center of his world. He loved his children deeply and fought with everything in him for more time with them. His love for his family was unwavering, strong, and unconditional.
He is also survived by his parents, Ernestina and Lazaro Villalobos; his brother, Ricardo Villalobos; his sister, Cristy Villalobos-Hauser; his brother-in-law, Theodore Hauser; his sister-in-law, Amanda Villalobos; and his cherished niece, Catalina Villalobos. To his family, Alex was a source of strength, a warm presence, and a steady, reassuring hand. Alex’s signature smirk speaks volumes without a word and will be missed beyond measure, especially when he corrects his siblings.
Alex lived life one day at a time, fully aware that every moment mattered. He found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—inviting loved ones to the next good movie or planning the next concert to attend together. Music and movies were his great loves, and Halloween held a special place in his heart—he delighted in all things spooky and never passed up a good scary movie.
Alex served as an intake specialist at UNC Health Hospital, where his compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on countless patients, coworkers, and his local community. He cared deeply for those who were sick and vulnerable, treating everyone he encountered with dignity, kindness, and respect. Through his work, Alex lived out his belief in the importance of helping others, especially in their toughest moments.
Alex was a devoted sports fan of soccer, basketball, and football, with a special love for both college and March Madness. Whether cheering on his favorite teams, America, the University of Texas Football, and the Philadelphia Eagles. His infectious passion for sports brought his loved ones closer. Alex loved hosting guests for a big game, carne asada, and his big speakers with family and friends. Football brought him joy and connection, another way to share time with the people he loved most.
Those who knew Alex will remember his kind heart, his steady presence, wisdom, and the quiet love he showed in every gesture. He gave everything he had to those he loved, and his legacy will live on through his children and the many lives he touched.
