Barbara Dale Hughes Deriscavage

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2023 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, North Carolina with Pastor David Sutphin officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 31, 1955 to Joan H. Gonaver of Hampton, TN and the late Richard Dale Hughes. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Hart.

Barb was dedicated to her family. She enjoyed traveling to Wilmington, NC with her husband and visiting the Riverfront, stopping by Elijah’s for lunch. She and her husband also traveled to Jamaica, Mexico, and Aruba over the years. Spending time with her grandchildren was her world. She was a “Super Grammy” as you could find her at guitar performances, horse shows, gymnastic meets and baseball games cheering on her grandkids. When she was not supporting her grandkids, she was spending time with her beloved dogs, Toby, Marty, Isabelle and Santana. One of Barb’s favorite things to do was surprise everyone with “What is Amazon Delivering Today”?

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 46 years, Daniel Donald Deriscavage; children, Christine Carol Deriscavage-Fountain (Larry) of Clayton, NC, Barbara Ann Earp (Lee) of Clayton, NC ; grandchildren, Preston Daniel Lanier, Karis Dale Lanier, Everly Abbott Fountain and Hunter Hughes Grady all of Clayton, NC; sister, Dorothy Ann Wallace (Tim) of Hampton, TN; as well as her sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.
