Boyd L. Farmer was born on December 7, 1935 in Hamlet, NC to the late Calvin M. and Estelle Tennant Farmer. He is survived by his wife, Doris Penninger Farmer; sons, Scott Farmer and wife Tracy, Joel Farmer and wife Kelly all of Clayton, grandchildren, Daniel Farmer, Grace Farmer, and Jacob Farmer of Clayton. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a brother-in-law, Glenn Penninger and his wife Brenda of Lexington. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Aubrey (Sonny) Farmer, Philip Farmer, Marion Farmer and his only sister, Elizabeth (Betty) F. Lassiter. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3-5:00 PM at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton. A memorial service will be held a later date in Sparta, NC. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Sparta United Methodist Church Missions, PO Box 697, Sparta, NC 28675, or to Alzheimer’s of NC, 1305 Navaho Dr #101, Raleigh, NC 27609.
