To simply say that he approached life with kindness and an open heart would be an understatement. Above all, Brian was a loving father who cherished time with his children. His warmth and positivity were felt by everyone he met, and his intelligence and wisdom were always evident. He was a lifelong learner and teacher, deeply passionate about making the world a better place through every endeavor.
As a mechanical engineer, Brian dedicated his career to powering the world. He worked with various engineering firms and utilities, including Fluor, Duke/Fluor Daniel, Duke Power, and Enercon. Most recently, he brought his expertise to Terra Power. His journey into engineering began somewhat unexpectedly; he started his college education at East Carolina University, where his professors recognized his aptitude for math and physics. With their encouragement, Brian applied to North Carolina State University and was accepted into their mechanical engineering program, from which he graduated. He remained a dedicated Wolfpack fan throughout his life.
Brian was also a lover of the outdoors, finding joy in fishing and hunting on countless weekends. These activities were more than hobbies; they were cherished times spent with his beloved children, Austin (Sydnie) and Jack. His pride and love extended to his granddaughter, Willow.
In addition to his children and grandchild, he is survived by his fiancée, Meghan Hill, whom he planned to marry in October; his loving parents, Coy and Linda Powell; his younger brother, Daniel; and many friends, family and colleagues who were fortunate enough to know him.
Brian's spirit, kindness, and passion for life will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives he touched.
