He received his undergraduate degree from ECU and his Masters from the University of Maryland. Bryan was an educator for 30 years at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD. He had a lifelong love of golf, bridge, and country ham.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 15th at 2:00p.m., at Carolina Pines Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Coats officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley Pope Coats, his number one son, Michael Coats of Atlanta GA, and sister, Shelby Johnson of Clayton. He was predeceased by siblings, W. B. Coats, Edna Thompson, Landis Coats and Wilma Johnson.
