
Carl Dixon Wilkins, 89, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015. Born in Mayodan, NC Mr. Wilkins was a member of First Baptist Church of Mayodan. He also served with the United States Army in World War II as a member of the Military Police in Germany. His career spanned 37 with the NC Dept. of Transportation and was an Equipment Engineer and upon retirement he began working for White’s Tire in Wilson, NC as a tire consultant until the age of 82. He will be remembered for his kindness and compassion to all he met; his ready smiles and soft words; his complete devotion to his family and his tireless love and support for his children and grandchildren. Papa Carl loved beyond measure. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. (Buck) and Clay Wilkins and sister, Ramona Wilkins. He is survived by his wife, Jean Dillard Wilkins; daughters, Sherry Scheib and husband, Bill of Mayodan; Carlanne Webster and husband, David, of Madison; step-daughters, Holly King and husband, Matthew, and Lamore Batten of Clayton. Grandchildren, Tara Lawrence and husband, Johnny; Cory Cook and wife, Angela; Carmen Diaz; Ash, Will, Luke and Markie Webster; Logan and Dalton Batten; Mally and Beasley King. Great-grandchildren, Nick Lawrence, Austin Case and Mackenzie Cook. Special extended family, Craig and Patti Dodson, Kevin, Jeaneane, Eric and Chastity. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Mayodan First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from12:00-1:00pm and at all other times at the home of Sherry and Bill Scheib, 507 N. 4th Avenue, Mayodan, NC.
