

He was born on July 11, 1925 in Rutherford County, the eldest son of the late Carvus Hames, Sr. and the late Minnie Nanney Hames. Mr. Hames was a graduate of Chesnee High School in Chesnee, SC and attended Gardner-Webb College. He moved to Asheboro in April of 1949. He was formerly Secretary-Treasurer of Lucks Inc. of Seagrove and the former owner of Randolph Furniture Company. He was retired from Prestige Fabricators and was employed with B-J Con Sew.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Broadus C. Hames and Crawford D. Hames.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Evelyn Robbins Hames; three children: Linda Hames Carter and husband David Carter of Asheboro; Terry L. Hames and wife Phyllis Coggins Hames of Greensboro and Craig Hames and wife Kristin Maynor Hames of Randleman; one brother, Robert J. Hames of Asheboro; three grandchildren, Amy Carter Draughn and husband Lee Draughn, Brandon Carvus Hames and Ashley Elizabeth Hames; one great grandson, Jacob Draughn; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2002 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 2, 2002 at The Cross Road Baptist Church, 1566 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, North Carolina with Reverend Johnny R. Henderson, Reverend C. Lee Ziegler, Jr. and Reverend Archie Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, North Carolina.
